 Candidate Huckaban
Back to Full Blog

I have heard nothing more frightening or disturbing than this latest blather from Mike Huckabee.Speaking at a rally in South Carolina, a jewel in the buckle of the "babble belt", he boldly states his desire to change the Constitution to be more in line with "god's" word. Here at last is the rotten fruit of the mindless evangelical movement that began in the 70's. The real horror is that there are millions of these cyborgs who vote and would be as happy as a Taliban freedom fighter to usher in a true reign of terror by imposing a social order based on the dubious edicts of some mythological diety. Those of you demented beings who believe that the bible is anything more than a compilation of oft revised fairy tales present a clear and present danger to the stability of the Republic. Why does Sharia law frighten you but similarities expressed in the bible fill you with rapture? If this is not a battle cry for all rational, secular humans to rebuff the religious right I don't know what you are waiting for. I would be very willing to take up arms against a regime whose guiding principals had any association with "the word of god". Deliver us from evil!!!

Toadie:

I would prefer living under the Ten Amendments of the Bill of Rights to living under the Ten Commandments of the Holy Bible. I heard one of Huckabee's supporters say that she prefers him to be President because she knows where he would be taking his orders from - and she didn't mean the Constitution.

Amen, Whit! Give me the Bill of Rights any day. That woman's comment is precisely a shining example of the un-American posture of these christian nut cases. Thanks for your comment.

Toadie -- The majority of people seem to invite control. When everything is in "god's" hands responsibility for their lives belongs to him. Everything good is a blessing, everything bad is "just god's will". Selective rational becomes like a sixth sense and facts are pliable. Ignorance is bliss. Maybe that's what is meant by heaven, or god, or the holy spirit. The Infinite Bliss of Self-Imposed Ignorance....It can save you, if you believe.

Huckabee is a truly creepy, corrupt, corrosive, christian con man. I wish him gout.

Late.

Blaast,
right on....most do invite a sense of mind control in which they can bask and relinquish all notion of personal responsibility. They do it all for jesus!!
"He's got the whole world in his hands" is an extremely simplistic, smug and deluded perspective on the complexities of the human experience. And these clowns vote with that empty head???

The Kingdom of God than has shed more blood than any other.

Violence is the last resource of the incompetent.

We should be displaying genuine compassion for the radical religious right; they are, after all, experiencing a great deal of suffering due to the burden of their delusions.

Christianity, like all major world religions, builds good people so long as it is subscribed to as a path of personal spiritual growth. The world needs more good people regardless of their spiritual persuasion. It would seem that problems begin to arise once evangelism enters the equation.

The world would be well off to be rid of the delusions under which people labor to dominate and/or eliminate others in the name of their religion.

So, how should one proceed should they desire to help dispel some of these delusions? Intellectual debate with true believers is ineffective at best. There is no arguing with faith.

It does seem, however, that when presented with a truth that is so profound as to be beyond denial, that people tend to come around. Depending on the strength of the truth and the amount of delusion that needs to be shed, an adjustment period may be required. Of course there will be some few who simply cannot or will not be able to accept some truths due to the density of their own conditioning. Have patience with and compassion for these few. So long as they are letting no blood, allow attrition to do its work.

The ability to dispel delusions lies squarely within the capabilities of our intellects. This challenges us to find ways to actually SHOW; with compassion, to those needing a clue, what truths we can. Truths, needless to say, that are so profound as to be beyond denial.

There is a bowl on your table that you know contains salt. Your guest across from you is convinced that it is sand. Simply put some in your mouth and taste it. Declare that it is salt. Offer your guest the opportunity to do the same.

As an extreme example, suppose that you meet someone who believes that the world is flat. I’d say strap their ass into a rocket and give them the tour. They will probably notice that the world is round. If they are perceptive they might even pick up on the value of perspective gained from a distance as an extra bonus.

TOADIE: HELLO. I know you and I share similar views and also some not such. I RESPECT ALL those of ALL views. It IS a free country -- last time I checked.

I tell all MY fellow brethren the following:

"Render unto Caesar that which is Caesar's and to GOD what is GOD's".

I've not yet ever gotten a reply back?

NOW, my friend:

What is goin' on with those basketballin' Hoosiers lately? It seems they lost their SHOOTING eyes and touch? And, they seem to play NBA one on one too often?

They should be gettin' BETTER this time of the year. SIGH.

GO BIG RED!

My BEST to you and yours, Toadie.
